St. Matthew’s Lutheran Girl Pioneers

Lutheran Girl Pioneers is a Christian-based fellowship organization for your daughter, granddaughter, or niece in grades 1 through 8. Each year the leadership council puts together a program designed to teach basic life skills like sewing a button or simple meal preparation, along with service-based opportunities to care for God's people including visists to shut-ins and fundraising for the less fortunate. We host a pine car derby in February or March where the girls are encouraged to build their own car and compete for speed and/or design. Older girls are encouraged to mentor younger girls. Along the way, we have a great deal of fun! Adults are always welcome to sit in on a meeting or help out. No pre-planning necessary, just stay for the evening.

The groups are as follows:

Sunbeams (Grade 1 and Grade 2)

Travelers (Grade 3 and Grade 4)

Trailblazers (Grade 5 and Grade 6)

Homesteaders (Grade 7 and Grade 8)

A Typical Meeting

We meet at 6:30 the first and third Tuesdays of the month, September through May. We start with a devotion and sing the Lutheran Pioneer Hymn followed by the planned activity. Meetings are held in the St. Matthew's gym. Parents are asked to pick up the girls at 8 p.m.

LGP Mission

To provide supervised and constructive recreation preparing Lutheran Girl Pioneers in the way of good citizenship with their motto, "Loyal to Christ," ever before them.

We are part of a national organization and can participate in district and national Lutheran Girl Pioneer activities as well.

Love Children?

You can be a part of LGP even if you don't have a daughter in the grades above. We are always seeking leaders, helpers, and council members to organize activities and share their talents. The council meets once a month at St. Matthew's.
